Ethyltetrahydrofurfurylether (ETE)
Technical Data Sheet (TDS)
Appearance: A colorless clear liquid.
Other name: 2-(ethoxymethyl)tetrahydrofuran
Characteristic: Ethyltetrahydrofurfurylether (ETE) is a strong aprotic solvent. It has a limited solubility in water. ETE can affect organolithium structures and reactivities through its bidentate structure. ETE is a flammable liquid. It should be protected from oxygen such as peroxides.
Applications: Ethyltetrahydrofurfurylether (ETE) is used in coatings, paint strippers, and cleaning formulations. ETE is used as a modifier for the organolithium catalyst in anionic polymerization of dienes (butadienes, isoprene), styrene-diene copolmers, hydrogenated stryrene-butadiene block copolymers, and liquid polybutadienes, to increase the level of vinyl structure in the polyene.
